Trapping of Gun-Injected Plasma by a Tokamak

ABSTRACT
It is shown that a plasma produced by a Marshall gun can be injected into
and trapped by a tokamak plasma. Gun injection raises the line-averaged
density and peaks the density profile. Trapping of the gun-injected plasma
is explainable in terms of a depolarization current mechanism.
